The Risk-informed Early Action Partnership (REAP) proudly announces the inclusion of People in Need (PIN) as its newest partner. With PIN's extensive experience in mitigating the impacts of disasters and building resilience in vulnerable communities, the partnership gains a valuable ally in addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by extreme weather events and climate-related hazards. Over the past decade, PIN has demonstrated its commitment to supporting communities worldwide facing the adverse effects of climate change, including long-running droughts, crop failures, hunger, loss of livelihoods, and civil disturbances. By leveraging PIN's expertise and track record in disaster response and climate adaptation, the REAP Partnership can enhance its efforts to implement anticipatory measures, early warning systems, and disaster risk reduction strategies, ultimately reducing the vulnerability of communities and safeguarding lives and livelihoods in the face of climate-related threats.
In joining REAP, PIN commits to contributing to the partnership by sharing practical knowledge and experience, especially in designing and implementing climate risk analyses, early warning systems (EWS), early action, and relevant flagship approaches/methodologies contributing to disaster risk reduction (DRR) and early action. PIN also pledges to share knowledge and experience in developing links and cooperating with REAP partners to advocate for investment in early action and EWS. Furthermore, PIN will support REAP’s knowledge content creation and dissemination, contributing to the wider sensemaking approach of the partnership for diverse stakeholders and sectors.
This collaboration signifies a vital step forward in promoting integrated approaches to disasters, ultimately safeguarding lives, livelihoods, and communities vulnerable to climate change and disasters. By leveraging PIN's expertise and experience, REAP strengthens its capacity to identify and address risks pre-emptively, ensuring more effective and timely responses to emerging challenges.
The partnership between REAP and PIN exemplifies the power of collective action in driving positive change, underscoring a shared commitment to enhancing resilience and protecting the most vulnerable populations worldwide.
